Faridabad is one of the oldest industrial towns in the National Capital Region, built around engineering, forging, auto components, tractors, electrical goods, rubber and electroplating. Its industrial sectors, along with NIT, Mujesar, Ballabgarh and the newer IMT Faridabad, host thousands of small and medium units that deal with the Haryana State Pollution Control Board's Faridabad offices. As part of NCR, Faridabad is subject to CAQM's directions on fuels and DG sets and to GRAP, and its forging and heat treatment units were among those required to move away from coal and furnace oil to approved fuels such as piped natural gas.
Faridabad also borders the Aravalli hills, and the Supreme Court's orders on Aravalli land, including the demolition of constructions in Kant Enclave and the removal of encroachments at Khori Gaon on forest land protected under the Punjab Land Preservation Act, show how seriously courts treat land restrictions here. We serve Faridabad from our NCR offices. This page sets out the issues we see most often.

Fuel and forging
Forging and heat treatment furnaces were historically run on coal, furnace oil or pet coke. CAQM's ban on coal and unapproved fuels across NCR, and the requirement to use piped natural gas where it is available in an industrial area, forced many Faridabad units to convert. Units that converted have certificates and gas bills; units that did not, or that still keep old fuel at the premises, face closure during inspection drives. Some units have argued that gas is too expensive or supply is inadequate, but these arguments rarely prevent closure.
If your unit is converting, keep every document: the conversion contractor's certificate, the gas connection and meter details, gas bills, and evidence that old fuel stock has been removed. If you are closed, these documents are the basis of a quick revocation. See NCR, GRAP and CAQM compliance.
Electroplating and effluent
Electroplating, pickling and anodising units in Faridabad generate effluent containing heavy metals such as chromium, nickel and zinc, and acidic or cyanide-bearing streams, along with sludge that is hazardous waste. These units must treat effluent to the prescribed standards, send sludge to an authorised TSDF, and keep records. Effluent from unauthorised or poorly run units reaching drains that flow to the Yamuna has led to closures and compensation. A unit facing a notice should provide recent test results from a recognised laboratory, ETP records, TSDF manifests and photographs of the treatment system. See hazardous waste authorisation.
Aravalli land in Faridabad
Faridabad's Aravalli areas have produced some of the most significant land cases in NCR. In the Kant Enclave matter, the Supreme Court ordered demolition of constructions on land covered by Punjab Land Preservation Act restrictions, holding that the land had the character of forest. In 2021, the Court directed the removal of thousands of structures at Khori Gaon built on Aravalli forest land, refusing to allow encroachments to continue despite their scale. These cases make clear that construction on PLPA-notified or forest land in the Aravallis, even with local permissions or long occupation, is at serious risk.
Anyone buying, leasing or building on land in Faridabad's Aravalli belt should check revenue records, PLPA notifications, forest records, and the court orders affecting the area, before paying. See environmental due diligence.
How we help Faridabad clients
Pre-season check
Fuel, gensets, consent and records.
Respond to closures
Revocation with evidence through the regional office.
Handle effluent notices
Test results, ETP records and corrective action.
Sort groundwater
With the Haryana Water Resources Authority.
Check land
For Aravalli and PLPA status.
Escalate where needed
Appellate authority, NGT or High Court.
Groundwater, lakes and drains
Faridabad's groundwater is under pressure, and the Haryana Water Resources Authority requires permission for non-agricultural extraction. Units and housing societies using borewells without permission risk sealing and compensation. Faridabad's lakes, such as Badkhal, and its drains carrying effluent and sewage towards the Yamuna have also been the subject of litigation and restoration efforts. Units discharging to drains should ensure their effluent meets standards and that they are connected to treatment arrangements where available. See groundwater NOC.

How we work
We are a litigation and advisory practice led by Advocate BK Singh, with offices in Dwarka (New Delhi) and Vaishali (Ghaziabad). This is what you can expect:
- NCR-based practice: serving Faridabad from Delhi and Ghaziabad.
- Fuel and closure work: quick revocation applications.
- Effluent and waste: for electroplating and engineering units.
- Land checks: Aravalli and PLPA status.
- Written fee terms: agreed stage by stage, never linked to the outcome.
Mistakes we see in Faridabad
- Keeping coal or furnace oil at a gas-converted unit
- Sending electroplating sludge to scrap dealers
- Building on Aravalli land with only local permission
- Using borewells without permission
- Waiting for a drive to fix gensets
A forging unit's revocation
Here's a made-up example. A Sector 24 forging unit was closed during a drive after inspectors found furnace oil drums at the site. The unit had converted to gas four months earlier.
We applied for revocation with the conversion certificate, gas bills and a receipt showing the drums had been sold to an authorised buyer. The board inspected and revoked the closure within a week.
An electroplating unit's notice
Here's a second made-up example. An electroplating unit in NIT received a notice after chromium was found in a drain sample.
We helped the unit repair its chromium reduction tank, obtain fresh results, and show TSDF manifests for its sludge. The reply led to the notice being closed with a condition of monthly testing for six months.
